About the Artist

Terry Frost 1915–2003

British artist Terry Frost began to paint while he was a prisoner during the Second World War. In 1946 Frost moved to St. Ives to study under Leonard Fuller. He then attended the Camberwell School of Art. Frost’s abstract compositions combine colour, light and shapes inspired by the Cornish coast. He exhibited extensively nationally and internationally. He was elected to the Royal Academy in 1992 and knighted in 1998. A major retrospective of Frost’s work was held at the Royal Academy in 2000.
