Brazilian artist Lucia Nogueira (1950 – 1998) moved to London in 1975 where she studied at the Chelsea School of Art and the Central School of Art. Nogueira gained recognition for her art practice from the late 1970s. She completed a residency at the Fondation Cartier, Paris, in 1993, and in 1996 was the recipient of a Paul Hamlyn Foundation Award for Visual Artists. Her work has been exhibited extensively, at venues including the Douglas Hyde Gallery, Dublin; Tate Modern, London; The Drawing Room, London; and Anthony Reynolds Gallery, London.
