About the Artist

Roy Johnston b.1936

Irish artist, critic and art historian, Roy Johnston attended the Belfast College of Art and the University of South Wales and Monmouthshire. He was Head of Painting at the Ulster Polytechnic from 1974 to 1984. Johnston has lived in the United States since 1987, where he was Head of Art at Skidmore College and Eastern Michigan University. He has exhibited extensively since the 1960s and is represented in the collections of the Arts Councils of Ireland, Northern Ireland, and Great Britain.
