About the Artist

Michael Ashur, 1950–2024

Irish painter Michael Ashur (1950-2024) studied at the National College of Art and Design in Dublin. Influenced by scientific research and discovery, his paintings are dynamic, hard edged and executed with precision. Ashur exhibited widely from the 1970s onward, including at the Irish Exhibition of Living Art (IELA) and the Royal Hibernian Academy (RHA) and had a number of solo exhibitions at the David Hendriks Gallery, Dublin. His work is represented in public collections including Dublin City Gallery The Hugh Lane, the Arts Council and University College Dublin. He died in Dublin in 2024.
