Children and children’s fairytales are the subject of Paula Rego’s prints in the IMMA Collection but the world she evokes is full of Gothic horror. Her nursery rhythm characters offer disconcerting reminders of the difficulties that inhabit childhood. Rego’s ‘The Night Crow’ is a threatening predatory creature.
