Irish painter Gene Lambert studied at the National College of Art and Design. His figurative paintings reference personal events and experiences. Lambert exhibited regularly at the Irish Exhibition of Living Art. He received the Carroll's Award in 1981 and represented Ireland at the International Festival of Painting in Cagnes-sur-Mer the following year. In 1991 Lambert co-edited ‘The Great Book of Ireland’ with the poet Theo Dorgan. His work has been the subject of solo exhibitions at the Douglas Hyde Gallery, Dublin; Houset Gallery, Copenhagen, and the Third Eye Gallery, Glasgow.
