    Mel Bochner, b.1940

    In the 1960s Conceptual artist Mel Bochner disassociated himself from the art ‘object’ and moved towards the idea of art as procedure. The exhibition ‘Working Drawings and Other Visible Things on Paper Not Necessarily Meant To Be Viewed as Art’ which he curated in 1966 is regarded as a seminal show in the conceptual art movement. Working with installation, painting and film, Bocher has exhibited widely, including retrospectives at Yale University and The National Gallery of Art, Washington.
