German painter Emil Schumacher studied Graphic Design at the School of Applied Arts in Dortmund between 1932 and 1935. He received the Guggenheim Award in 1958 and in the same year was appointed Professor at the University of Fine Arts of Hamburg, Germany. Schumacher is considered one of the most important representatives of abstract painting in the second half of the 20th century. The Emil Schumacher Museum was opened in Hagen, Germany, in 2009.View Artist
