About the Artist

Mark Roeyer b.1943

American sculptor Mark Roeyer (born 1943) was born in Kansas City, Missouri. He served with the US Navy before studying painting at the University of Kansas, 1968-1972. After KU he worked as a shipwright for five years. Roeyer was awarded the Ward Lockwood Fellowship in 1972 and the H.L. Cooke Foundation Grant in 1986. He worked as the exhibition designer at the Spencer Museum of Art, University of Kansas, Lawrence for twenty years and has exhibited in solo and group exhibitions. His sculptures are held in public and private collections including the Smithsonian American Art Museum; Spencer Museum of Art; University of Kansas; and the Wichita Art Museum.
