    Mathias Goeritz 1915–1990

    German-born, Mexican artist Mathias Goeritz attended the Friedrich-Wilhelms Universitat, Berlin, and the Berlin-Charlottenberg School of Arts and Crafts. He moved to Mexico in 1949 and began teaching at the School of Architecture at the University of Guadalajara. Goeritz was instrumental in establishing abstraction in Mexico with the founding of the Museo Experimental El Eco in Mexico City. In 1957, he collaborated with architects to create the monumental sculpture ‘The Towers of Satélite’.
