About the Artist

Vladimir Kibalchich Rusakov, 1920–2005

Russian born Painter and muralist Vladimir Kibalchich Rusakov spent most of his life in Mexico where he was known as ‘Vlady’. In 1968 he received a Guggenheim Fellowship and spent a year in New York. Part of Mexico’s rupture movement, Vlady created a series of dramatic abstract murals inspired by renaissance frescoes and revolutions around the world. Before his death, he donated more than 4,600 works to the Fine Arts Institute in Mexico.
