    Juan Downey, 1940–1993

    Chilean artist Juan Downey studied architecture at the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile. Downey moved to New York in 1969 and became associated with the Raindance collective of artists who were experimenting with new video technology. Downey exhibited extensively from the 1970s, including solo exhibitions at the Whitney Museum of American Art, New York; the Bronx Museum of the Arts, New York, and the Museo de Arte Moderno de Chiloé, Castro.
