Comm emerges from the early years of the Northern Ireland peace process, reflecting a moment of uncertainty, dialogue and fragile hope. Using everyday materials and understated gesture, the work is rooted in its political context. It also points to the crucial role of prisoners in peace negotiations, where systems of communication, comms’, enabled dialogue between incarcerated groups and political representatives, shaping pathways toward ceasefire and eventual agreement. Comm subtly engages with themes of division and exchange, offering a quiet meditation on how relationships, personal and political, are negotiated during times of transition.
