Italian artist Francesco Clemente moved to Rome to study architecture in 1970, but soon turned to drawing and poetry. Influenced by travels in Europe, the Caribbean, Egypt, Japan and India, he draws from a range of imagery and symbols in his fantastical paintings, pastels and water colours. Clemente has exhibited internationally since the 1980s. A comprehensive retrospective of his work was held at the Guggenheim, New York, in 2000. He had a solo exhibition at IMMA in 2004.View Artist
