About the Artist

Philip King, b.1934

British sculptor Philip King PRA was born in French Tunisia. King studied Modern Languages at Christ’s College, Cambridge, and Sculpture with Anthony Caro at St Martins School of Art. He then worked as an assistant to Henry Moore. King taught at the Royal College of Art and at the Royal Academy Schools. He was made a Royal Academician in 1990 and served as President of the Royal Academy from 1999 to 2004. He received the International Sculpture Centre’s Lifetime Achievement Award in 2010.
