Peter Hutchinson grew up in rural England and there developed a love and knowledge of plants. Hutchinson attended the University of Illinois and moved to New York in 1961. Hutchinson has received numerous awards including a Walter Guttman Foundation Grant in 1966, a National Endowment for the Arts Grant in 1975-76, and a Pollock-Krasner Foundation Grant in 1989. Also an enthusiastic gardener, Hutchinson’s garden in Provincetown MA is registered as a wildlife habitat.
