Colombian painter Luciano Jaramillo moved to France in 1951 and attended the L’Ecole des internal Roches in Normandy. Returning to Colombia in 1955, Jaramillo studied at Colegio Helvetia in Bogota. In 1961 he was appointed Professor of Painting at the School of Fine Arts at the Universidad de los Andes in Bogota. During the 1970s he won numerous national commissions in Colombia. An honorary retrospective exhibition of Jaramillo’s work was held at the Museum of Modern Art, Bogota, in 1986.
