Louise Bertelsen and Po Shu Wang’s common interest in site-specific work led them to collaborate and found LIVING LENSES in 1999. Bertelsen is from a performance and multi-media art background, while Wang is from a visual and public art background. The subject matter for LIVING LENSES is fragments of everyday reality in public places, where Bertelsen and Wang act as ‘living lenses’ to draw focus on the conscious and unconscious layers of meaning of a civic space, letting conventional associations mutate into unforeseen directions. It is an exploration of the world they live in, the world they live by, as well as the world that they dream of. Specific media and contents of their works are in continuous evolution and mutation with each and every locality they engage in.
