American art critic and art historian Joseph Masheck studied History of Art at Columbia University. In the 1970s and 1980s Masheck served as editor-in-chief of ‘Artforum’ and contributing editor of ‘Art in America’. He has taught extensively at colleges including Columbia, Harvard, Hofstra University, Edinburgh College of Art and Cambridge University. Masheck completed an M.Litt in aesthetics at Trinity College, Dublin in 2001. He has held a Guggenheim and other fellowships, and is the first American academic to receive a research grant from The Malevich Society.
