Household is a collectively-led art organisation that supports the production of high quality art that connects people and place.
They are Northern Ireland’s only arts organisation dedicated to the research and delivery of public art projects and are committed to artist-led and community-focused methods of working. Household are interested in telling untold stories, asking unspoken questions, and revealing hidden narratives through creative, engaging visual arts programming. They also organise projects that encourage networking, advocate for artists and support shared learning and creative and professional development. They support artists to create exceptional, internationally acclaimed, locally grown artwork.
Household currently run two core programmes: UPHOLD, a not-for-profit platform that commissions and sells new work by visual artists living and/or working in Northern Ireland. Through this programme they are building a new collection of Northern Irish art and are researching and nurturing new cultures of collecting across the island of Ireland. The other strand of programming is Artists in Neighbourhoods, a project trialling out new methods of commissioning public art and art production in the city.
