Born Thomastown, Co. Kilkenny in 1945, Helen Comerford studied at the National College of Art and Design, Dublin, Belfast College of Art and Design and Akademie Voor Beeldende Kunst, Utrecht, Netherlands. Having started as a sculptor, for the past two decades she has worked as a painter in encaustics. Her work is represented in many public and private collections, including:  The Arts Council of Ireland, Butler Gallery, and Dublin City Gallery The Hugh Lane.
