American photographer Bert Stern worked at ‘Look’ magazine before serving as a photographer in the US army during the Korean War. Stern came to prominence in the 1960s with his portraits of iconic figures such as Marilyn Monroe, Sophia Loren, Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton. He also created many advertising campaigns and a number of films. His photographic publication ‘The Pill Book’ became a best seller in 1979. Stern’s contemporary subjects included Madonna, Kylie Minogue and Kate Moss.
