We would like to advise our visitors that our Main Reception area is closed for renovation from 22 April until mid-June.  A temporary reception is open on the ground floor next to the original main entrance. While we prepare to open our next exhibition Hilary Heron: A Retrospective on 24 May, there are two exhibitions to see Derry Film & Video Workshop and Self: Determination: Artists Commissions. Self-Determination: A Global Perspective, Artist Commissions

Presented as part of the exhibition Self-Determination: A Global Perspective, IMMA has commissioned two new works including a site-specific installation titled, Rest by Turkish artist İz Öztat and a new multi-narrative environment, An Dún, by Belfast based Array Collective.

We realised the power of it, Derry Film and Video Workshop
Main Galleries, West Wing/ Now until 22 Sep 2024
‘We realised the power of it’ deals with the history and archive of the radical film collective Derry Film and Video Workshop. The project includes footage, photographs and documents that trace its history, exploring subjects such as gender, class, collective organising, the Irish ‘national question’ and the legacies of imperialism.

Hilary Heron, A Retrospective
Garden Galleries/ 24 May–28 Oct 2024
Presenting the work of pioneering modernist sculptor Hilary Heron (1923 – 1977), this is the first major retrospective exhibition of Heron’s work since 1964. Bringing together work from national and international collections, this exhibition seeks to to correct the ways that her work has been overlooked in Irish and international histories of modern sculpture.
