IMMA Talks presents a series of renowned critical thinkers, writers, artists, activists and international curators to share their contemporary views. From keynote talks, seminars and in gallery talks by – this summer we draw on the vast array of exhibitions and the IMMA Collection, to reflect on the sustainability of institutional, artistic, and cultural practices and processes. Communities, care, citizenship, ecology are just some of the topical issues we will discussing with our international and local guests.

Join us for the closing Seminar to mark the final weekend of the exhibition Sarah Pierce: Scene of the Myth. The Scene of the Myth: Dialogues Series, brings together international guests to discuss, respond and reflect on the practice of Sarah Pierce and the three organising themes of the exhibition: Institutes and Protests, Legacies and Exercises, and Communities and Migrations.

Artist Sarah Pierce, curator Rike Frank and international guests Azar Mahmoudian, Mason Leaver-Yap, and Leire Vergara explore the relationship between intimacy and exposure, migration, and education, with a particular focus on communities formed through dispersion and institutes forged through protest.

Followed by Live Performances in the Galleries 
2pm: Final exhibition performances include Campus (2011), Levitating in the Nauman (2014) and Future Exhibitions (2013). Drop-in – No booking required for performances.


IMMA Collection: Artist Talk-Marathon

As part of IMMA Nights, join us for an evening celebration with IMMA Collection artists who take up the challenge to present, in tight sequence short five minute talks, on selected artworks recently acquired for your National Collection of Modern and Contemporary Art. Introduced by Annie Fletcher, Director, IMMA participating artists include: Aideen Barry; Rachel Fallon; Willie Doherty; Clodagh Emoe; Alice Maher; Deirdre O’Mahony; Eithne Jordan; Sibyl Montague; Atoosa Pour Hosseini; Anne Tallentire and Daphne Wright.

This celebratory Artist Talk-Marathon is followed by a reception and free music in the courtyard by DJ Nigel Wood.
